Battery Boy powers the 10th Annual Hike for Hospice

Lace up your shoes for a milestone Hike for Hospice! Presented by Title Sponsor Battery Boy, registration is now open for the 10th annual Hike for Hospice, taking place Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Mud Creek Trail in Chatham.

This year’s event holds special meaning as Chatham-Kent Hospice celebrates 10 years of providing compassionate residential hospice care at no cost to individuals and families in our community. Hike for Hospice is a meaningful way to honour that decade of care while ensuring support continues for years to come.

Before hitting the trail, participants are encouraged to collect and track pledges using the online system or a paper form. This year’s event hopes to raise $160,000, with all funds staying right here in Chatham-Kent to support compassionate end-of-life care for local families.

On the day of the event, pre-hike activities begin at noon and include live music, memorial activities, lawn games, kids’ activities and more. Following a few announcements, participants will head out on the trail at 2:00 p.m.

“We invite people of all abilities to sign up, collect pledges and enjoy time together as a family,” said Rebecca Smyth, Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation Board Member. “As we celebrate 10 years of hospice care in our community, Hike for Hospice is a meaningful way to remember loved ones who have passed and honour them by paying it forward to other families in Chatham-Kent.”

Registration is free, with the option to purchase a commemorative T-shirt or a personalized memorial sign featuring the name and photo of a loved one who has passed.

While the main event takes place on Sunday, May 3, participants are also welcome to hike the Mud Creek Trail at their convenience between Monday, April 27 and Saturday, May 2. Memorial signs will be displayed along the trail beginning April 27.
