On Sunday, more than 402 registered participants took part in the 2026 Hike for Hospice Chatham-Kent along the scenic Mud Creek Trail. This year’s event held special significance as it marked the 10th anniversary of the event and Chatham-Kent Hospice, bringing the community together to celebrate a decade of compassionate care and support.
Participants helped raise an impressive $200,000 through hiker pledges, corporate team participation, and generous event sponsorships. Among the top contributors was this year’s Corporate Challenge winner, AWC Manufacturing who participated in memory of their co-worker, Corey St. Peter, who was a resident at Chatham-Kent Hospice.
The event was made possible thanks to the continued support of returning Title Sponsor Battery Boy and Pre-Hike Family Fun Sponsor Kent & Essex Mutual and Fairway Wealth Management. Additional sponsorship was provided by, TekSavvy and MicroAge/MC Business Solutions.
A meaningful addition to this year’s hike were the memorial trees planted along the path that create a lasting tribute to all those loved and lost.
With this year’s success, the Hike for Hospice Chatham-Kent has now raised more than $1.31 million over the past ten years. These funds directly support compassionate, end-of-life care in the community, including residential hospice services, care coordination, and grief and bereavement programs—offered at no cost to local families.
“This year’s Hike for Hospice was especially meaningful as we celebrated 10 years of caring for our community,” said Brock McGregor, Executive Director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation. “The incredible support we continue to receive ensures that individuals and families facing end-of-life journeys have access to compassionate care, comfort, and dignity when they need it most. We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated, donated, and helped make this event such a success.”
