“Handbags for Hospice” sells out for 3rd year

The 3rd Annual “Handbags for Hospice” event hosted at the Portuguese Canadian Social Club by a group of committed volunteers in October. The sold out event raised $24,000 in support of local Hospice families.

At the event, guests play twelve games of Bingo where the prize for each round is a brand name, designer handbag. Other prizes are also available through raffles and new this year was a Platinum Purse draw for a Kate Spade bag.

“This is such a fun event and it wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and hard work of the planning committee. It’s also a very meaningful event and we are very grateful to those who sponsored handbags and other prizes in memory of loved ones and everyone who attended. How fortunate we are to have a community who continues to show their care and concern for families facing end of life. These funds will be used to provide our Hospice residents and their families with compassionate care at no cost to them.” – Jodi Maroney, Executive Director, Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
