Heavy traffic drives ‘East Kent Hot Rods for Hospice’ to event fundraising record

The third annual East Kent Hot Rods for Hospice took place Saturday, September 20, and achieved its best result yet raising an incredible $34,744.59 for Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation!

Organized by volunteers of the Ridge Runners East Kent, the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus welcomed hundreds of cars and thousands of people from across Chatham-Kent and beyond. Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed a car show, vendor exhibit, soapbox derby, kid’s activities, live music, emergency vehicle displays, 50/50, raffles and more.

“We had an outstanding turnout that saw more than 330 classic cars roll through and thousands of people enjoying the day,” says Emily Vollans, head of the planning committee and a member of Ridge Runners East Kent. “We’re fortunate to have Hospice in our community and our team is honoured to support hospice families while also bringing a large-scale event back to East Kent.”

“Thank you to the Ridge Runners East Kent planning committee, event sponsors, volunteer and attendees who dedicated their Saturday to the success of this year’s Hot Rods for Hospice. The funds raised will help us to continue to provide end-of-life care as well as grief and bereavement services to the community of Chatham-Kent. It is thanks to the generous support of community events like Hot Rods for Hospice that the Chatham-Kent Hospice can provide vital services to our community at no cost,” said Brock McGregor, Executive Director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.

Ridge Runners East Kent would like to thank Full Throttle sponsors University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus and Ridge Landfill, Turbo Charger sponsors Erikson Manufacturing, CUPE Local 12, and Enbridge.
