Battery Boy Presents the 8th Annual Hike for Hospice

Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation invites you to lace up your shoes and join us as we Hike for Hospice to raise funds to support end-of-life Hospice care in Chatham-Kent. Presented by Title Sponsor Battery Boy, registration is now open for the eighth annual event that takes place Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Mud Creek Trail in Chatham.

Hike for Hospice welcomes participants of all abilities to come together to show their support for Hospice families. Before hitting the trail, participants gather pledges to raise essential funds that ensures Hospice may continue to provide compassionate end-of-life care at no cost to families in our community. This year’s event hopes to raise $140,000, with all funds staying right here in Chatham-Kent.

“Hike for Hospice is a wonderful way for people to remember and honour their loved ones in a thoughtful and practical way,” said Ginny Hawken, Co-chair of Hike for Hospice. “It’s amazing to see the many families that have made Hike an annual tradition and come out to support Hospice year after year.”

Registration is free and participants are able to purchase a commemorative t-shirt, tie-dye sunglasses or personalized memorial signs featuring the name and picture of a loved one who has passed. After Hike week, families may collect the sign and have it as a keep-sake.

On event day, May 5, participants are encouraged to bring a picnic and join the pre-hike activities that will get underway starting at noon. Entertainment will include live music, memorial activities, lawn games, kid’s activities and more, made possible by Kent and Essex Mutual Insurance.

Although the main event takes place Sunday, May 5, participants are also welcome to hike the Mud Creek Trail at their convenience between Monday, April 29 and Saturday, March 4. Memorial signs will be set up along the trail beginning April 29. Hikers may also submit pledges online and participate remotely.

Hike for Hospice Chatham-Kent is proudly presented by Battery Boy and generously supported by Kent & Essex Mutual Insurance, Fairway Wealth Management at National Bank Financial, TekSavvy, the Chatham Lions, MicroAge, MC Business Solutions, Rondeau Capital Inc. and additional sponsors listed on our website.
